College Ready
Coney Island Prep High School (CIPHS) is a four-year, college preparatory, public charter high school located in the Gravesend neighborhood of Brooklyn. As the first charter school in Community School District 21, CIPHS has been a pioneer in education since its founding in 2013. The school enrolls approximately 350 students in grades 9-12, with 70 students in the senior class. Since its inaugural graduating class in 2017, every Coney Island Prep senior has graduated with college acceptances in hand.
Scholars at CIPHS engage in a rigorous curriculum that includes Advanced Placement (AP) courses and College and Career Readiness classes. The school provides a supportive, small-school environment with extracurricular opportunities ranging from sports to enrichment clubs and leadership programs.
CIPHS offers scholars the chance to participate in study abroad programs, summer pre-college programs, and internships. In recent years, scholars have studied at summer programs in countries such as China, France, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, Ecuador, Morocco, Italy, Jordan, and Spain. Additionally, they have earned college credits at institutions like Georgetown, University of Rochester, Brown, Marist, UConn, Yale, and many others.
